Historical Rule-change in Amateur Shooto
Today Shooto Europe has been informed about a historical change in the rules for Amateur Shooto by the Japan Shooto Association. From May 2019 on Punches to the body of a grounded opponent will be permitted and declared legal. For the first time in 30 years Shooto permitts Ground and Pound in Amateur Shooto matches. This change of rules will be very interesting for all european Shooto branches, as the 18th. Open European Amateur Shooto Championships on May 18th in Reutlingen (Germany) will be the first continental Amateur Shooto Tournament with these new rules. An official Referee Course of the Japan Shooto Association for all dedicated and interested european martial artists will be held on May 18th in the German Top Team HQ in Reutlingen, before the European Championships will start. Official Referee course
Attention! There will be an official Referee course for Amateur Shooto by the Japan Shooto Association during the 18th European Amateur Shooto Championships 2019 in Germany. Along with Rumina Sato comes Paraestra Blackbelt Takashi Ouchi, who will run an official certified Referee course by the JSA for all interested persons. Shooto Europe offers this chance to all dedicated individuals from across Europe. After completition all participators will be officially certified by the JSA and listed in our directory of official JSA Referees in Europe.
Markus Held fights the Shooto Champion in Japan!
Only a few weeks ago german Shooto Standout Markus “Hero” Held captured the German Professional Shooto Featherweight Title by choking defending Champion Tobias Thiago Huber unconscious and now the Silvermedalist of the All Japan Amateur Shooto Championships is soon on the way to Japan to face nobody else but the current and reigning Shooto Champion Yutaka Saito. Just a few hours after his title win Markus got the offer to fight on January 27th in Tokyo’s famous Korakuen Hall in the Co-Main Event of Professional Shooto against the Champ. In the past weeks he stayed in weight and shape and is prepared for a tough match against the No. 1 in the world. It is the first time ever that a german fighter will face a Shooto Champion in a match.

Date for European Amateur Shooto Championships 2019
The date for the biggest Amateur Shooto Event 2019 in Europe has been set. On Saturday, May 18th, Shooters from all over Europe will come together in Reutlingen (Germany) for the 18th installment of this event. Japanese Shooto Legend and Head of the International Shooto Association Rumina Sato has already agreed to come to Germany to attend this event in person. Along with him he will bring a member of the ISC to teach and educate the european Shooto Referees and Judges, who get certified by the Japan Shooto Association after completition of the course. The finalists in all weight classes are qualified to compete at the biggest Amateur Shooto event in the World, the All Japan Shooto Championships later that year in Japan. So mark the date, prepare your fighters and bring your referees and judges to attend this great event of Shooto in Europe! More information and details coming soon!
DEEP Jewels features german female Shooters
Two of Germany’s finest female Shooters will face a strong competition this Saturday in Tokyo (Japan), when Tanja Angerer and Judith Ruis will battle japanese Top Stars at DEEP Jewels in the famous Shinjuku Face. Both have made themselves a name, when they fought the Superfights “Japan vs. Germany” at SHOOTO KINGS. Also Tanja Angerer has been European Amateur Shooto Champion 2012. Tanja Angerer will face japanese veteran Mika Nagano, while Judith Ruis will take on famous RIZIN fighter “King” Reina. We will keep you posted with the latest news. Shooto Europe cheers for the two Shooto fighters in this great competition.

MMA (Shooto) MMA / Shooto is a full-contact combat sport. MMA requires the practitioner to use striking K1 style Kickboxing, Clinch techniques from Muay Thai and grappling & submissions from Wrestling & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). We have a set Shooto (a Japanese term for MMA) grading syllabus. We are the only official members of Shooto Europe in the UK & official members of the UKMMAF Shoot-Boxing A hybrid of Muay Thai & K1 Kickboxing, Wrestling & Ju-Jitsu. Our Shoot-Boxing syllabus involves striking, standing grappling & standing submissions, takedowns & throws. We train for Muay Thai and K1 Kickboxing style competition within this class too. Ideal for sport or self defence. We have a merit based grading syllabus for students to work to, based on peoples fighting ability. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. This BJJ class is taught by SBG UK Bradford coach & UK Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion Mark ‘Spenna’ Spencer. Most notably, Brazilian Jiu jitsu is known for taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and choke holds to defeat the opponent. German Top Team NRWNon-Official Shooto Gym
Professional Shooter Florian Lenz, who is also a Brownbelt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Luta Livre, opened the German Top Team NRW in September 2018 with tremendous success. The Gym offers classes in Shooto, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Luta Livre.

The German Top Team has been founded in March 2004 by Headcoach Peter Angerer and offers a wide range of martial arts instructions, as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Luta Livre, Shidokan Karate, Kickboxing, Crosstraining, Yoga and of course Shooto. The German Top Team is home to many successful Amateurs and Professional Shooters, whose members have fought in Japan and all over Europe.
